The Great Indian Kapil Show Season 2 Episode 2 review: Jr NTR tries Punjabi pick-up line with Kapil Sharma; Saif Ali Khan hints at son Ibrahim’s debut

To keep the laughs rolling, comedian Kapil Sharma needs to make his Bollywood guest stars feel right at home with the vibe of his show. When his one-liners don’t hit the mark, it’s his trusty crew—Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda, and Sunil Grover—who swoop in to save the day. The latest episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show Season 2, featuring the Devara cast—Janhvi Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, and Jr. NTR—was a prime example of this fun dynamic.
The second episode had a rather bumpy start. Kapil kicked it off with his observational humour about the differences between North and South India, hilariously highlighting the similarities as well. He pointed out how men in lungis behave the same everywhere and joked that politicians—whether from the North or the South—are all equally opportunistic.
For a brief moment, Jr. NTR and Saif Ali Khan hijacked Kapil Sharma’s show, roasting him as they paved the way for his grand entry on stage. While they enjoyed the thrill of cracking up a live audience, Kapil quickly took back the reins. However, many of his one-liners didn’t quite land with Saif, leaving him looking a bit confused. Kapil did score some brownie points when he had Jr NTR try out a hilarious pickup line in Punjabi on Archana Puran Singh. During the interaction, Saif also hinted at his son Ibrahim Ali Khan’s upcoming Bollywood debut. Janhvi too joined her Devara co-stars on stage but she kept her interaction to a minimum, letting her seniors and Kapil do most of the talking.
The show hit a new low when Rajiv Thakur took the stage to perform a poorly written gig. The comedian has always had limited screen time on Kapil’s show, often lasting only a few seconds. In this episode, the makers tried to create space for Rajiv, but his lacklustre performance and the weak sketch thwarted that effort. He was paired with guest actor Soundous Moufakir, who also struggled to grasp the show’s concept, making her act feel out of place and, at times, even irking the audience.
But soon, Kiku Sharda, Krushna Abhishek, and Sunil Grover came to the rescue, delivering the best moments of the hour-long episode with their sketches. Their first act, featuring Kiku and Krushna as Rajmata and Katappa in a hilarious Baahubali-themed parody, really stole the show. Their chemistry and understanding, often punctuated by improvisation, elevated the performance. Even Krushna’s awkward wardrobe malfunction on stage became a comedic opportunity.

The last act was reserved for the best. We’ve seen Sunil Grover ace his impressions of Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan, but he once again proved his mettle by mimicking filmmaker SS Rajamouli on the show. Sunil delivered the best act of the night, seizing every opportunity to elicit laughs with his every move. He skillfully took the Bollywood stars out of their comfort zones and had them rolling with laughter.
Just like in Episode One of Season 2, the second episode brought in some fun games for the celebrities. While they do stretch the show’s runtime a bit, they keep things lively and entertaining as long as they’re innovative.
