Shalini Passi became an overnight sensation after she debuted in Fabulous Lives vs Bollywood Wives. The season 3 of the Netflix show opened with an impressive ball hosted by the diva, who stole the entire show with her maximalist look and YOLO attitude. It was after this show that people got more interested in her life. Over the months, the Delhi diva gave several interviews sharing details about her life and love story. One interesting thing she shared during these interviews is that how she got married at the age of 20, while she was still in college. Now, in a new interview, Shalini shared that she has zero regrets about marrying young. In fact, she called it the “greatest move made by the universe.”
Shalini Passi had an arranged marriage with the owner of PASCO group, Sanjay Passi. His family spotted Shalini at her school friend’s wedding. They were impressed by the beauty of the 20-year-old, and in the same evening spoke to her parents who too attended the wedding. Just like that her marriage was fixed.
Speaking to Mojo Story, Shalini said, “It was a very good move by the universe because I had so much energy and enthusiasm back then. What happens with women is later in their life, the energy and recovery gets extremely different. When young, you recover early. I became a mom at 21. Because I was young, I used to get more excited than my son when I took him to a toy store. Its like I am almost living my life in reverse.”
Shalini, however, had a condition before she agreed for an arranged marriage. “I told my parents that I don’t want the person to drink, smoke and gamble”, said Shalini. She explained, “I was brought up by my grandparents, who were extremely against smoking and drinking. They didn’t even keep a pack of cards at home. I grew up seeing that so I had that condition.”
“When I told this to my mother, she was like ‘sure, good luck’. But then I found Sanjay. My father didn’t believe when his family told him that Sanjay is not into drinking and smoking. He thought they were lying”, said Shalini.
Marrying young, Shalini had a challenge of fitting into the society. From being brought up in a house where ‘High thinking, simple living’ was valued the most to becoming part of the family that hosted parties and banquets. Shalini went through a massive change and “mastered the art of hosting” after members of the society questioned her abilities.
