Paatal Lok Season 2 trailer: Hell’s permanent resident, Jaideep Ahlawat’s Hathiram, embarks on quest for truth in Nagaland

The trailer for this year’s most anticipated web show, Paatal Lok Season 2, has finally dropped. Once again, Paatal Lok’s ‘permanent resident,’ Inspector Hathiram Chaudhary (Jaideep Ahlawat), returns to unravel a heinous crime. This time, however, the investigation takes him far from his familiar grounds—not in Yamunapaar but to the rugged terrain of Nagaland. The new season not only brings back familiar faces like Gul Panag and Ishwak Singh but also introduces Tillotama Shome as a part of the lead cast.

The trailer opens with Hathiram caught in a scuffle, with a background voice hinting at his struggle to keep a broken ship from sinking—a metaphor for his turbulent life. The narrative soon shifts to Nagaland, where Delhi Police is on the hunt for the murderer of the founder of the Nagaland Democratic Forum. Meanwhile, Hathiram faces personal challenges back home, including backlash for his prolonged absence.

Adding to his discomfort is his junior officer, Imran Ansari (played by Ishwak Singh), who has now risen to a top-ranking position after clearing an exam, making Hathiram feel uneasy while saluting him. Tasked with investigating the disappearance of a migrant worker linked to a dangerous drug syndicate, Hathiram must navigate a labyrinth of secrets while battling his own inner demons.

Speaking about his character, Jaideep Ahlawat shared, “Hathi Ram Chaudhary wasn’t just a character, it became a mirror reflecting the complexities of society and humanity, striking a chord with millions worldwide. With Season 2, we delve even deeper into Hathi Ram’s psyche. This season unravels the raw, vulnerable side of him as he grapples with new adversities, uncharted moral dilemmas, and his own shadows. It’s darker, grittier, and layered with human complexities that will keep audiences on the edge.”

Directed by Avinash Arun Dhaware, Paatal Lok Season 2 will release on Prime Video on January 17.
