Prime Video on Thursday unveiled the first trailer for season two of TVF’s Aspirants, which follows the ‘tripod’ trio of Abhilash, Guri and SK, as they balance their friendship against the winds of change. The new season switches back and forth between timelines, as it charts the origin of the trio’s strong bond, and the struggles they have to go through to keep it intact.
Abhilash has become an IAS officer, who strives to hold on to his beliefs in an uncertain system. Sandeep bhaiya, on the other hand, is embarking on a coaching career, while Guri is dealing with his own issues. Interpersonal conflicts collide with grand career aspirations as the three friends lock horns on their respective journeys. Directed by Apoorv Singh Karki, the series brings back the stellar cast from the previous season, including Naveen Kasturia, Shivankit Singh Parihar, Abhilash Thapliyal, Sunny Hinduja and Namita Dubey.
Speaking about the second season, Apoorv Singh Karki said in a statement, “Aspirants 2 takes the characters forward, dives deep within the world of UPSC prep. In addition, it reveals the ground reality of doing an administrative job. What is the real battlefield? Is it the prep or is it the posting? We were overwhelmed by season one’s success. We hope season 2 brings much love from the people. TVF is a master in creating universes. Aspirants is one such beautiful world we are all proud of.”
While the first season debuted on YouTube, the show’s second season is headed for Prime Video. A similar strategy was followed on TVF’s other hit show, Kota Factory, which debuted on YouTube before being acquired by Netflix. A recent spinoff of Aspirants, centred on Sandeep bhaiya, was released on TVF’s YouTube channel three months ago. The show is co-created by TVF’s Arunabh Kumar, who was accused of sexual misconduct by several women during the #MeToo movement. He was acquitted of the charges by a Mumbai court last year, over ‘lack of concrete evidence’.
