Akka teaser: Keerthy Suresh and Radhika Apte clash in YRF’s revenge thriller

The makers of Akka, the highly anticipated web series starring Keerthy Suresh and Radhika Apte, unveiled its teaser on Monday. The teaser was unveiled at Netflix’s grand event, Next on Netflix, where the streaming platform announced all its upcoming projects for 2025. Akka is a revenge thriller that promises intense drama as the two powerhouse actors face off in a gritty battle.

Set in the 1980s in the fictional city of Pernuru, South India, the show revolves around gangster queens. Their matriarchal rule is challenged by an outsider, played by Radhika. The teaser opens with a powerful visual of the gangster queens’ domain, with Keerthy leading her all-female gang. It hints at Radhika’s character, who is seen devising strategies to take down Akka’s reign. The visuals also suggest that the gang is involved in the gold trade, with Radhika’s character threatening to disrupt their operations. The teaser shows Akka’s gang members, clad in traditional outfits, taking up arms and fighting fiercely against those who dare to challenge their power.

Akka is written and directed by Dharmaraj Shetty and produced by Yash Raj Films’ Aditya Chopra, along with Yogendra Mogre and Akshaye Widhani under the banner of YRF Entertainment. The show also stars Tanvi Azmi in a key role.

Akka marks Radhika Apte’s first project post her daughter’s birth in December last year. Keerthy Suresh, who made her big Bollywood debut with Baby John alongside Varun Dhawan, was present at the event in Mumbai and expressed her excitement about the show. “Akka is an entirely different world that you wouldn’t have seen before. It is about a lot of powerful women coming together. Akka is a show of fierce, and powerful women at its centre.”
